Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Relationships are established between the impact strength of nitrided steels and nitriding parameters.

  2. 2.

Use of high-alloy steels with prior temper hardening is recommended in order to provide high structural strength under impact loading conditions.

  3. 3.

For nitriding it is desirable to use schedules and steels which exclude temper brittleness.
