Technology of processing lanthanum boride with a plasma jet

Transactions of All-Union Interinstitute Seminar on Production Methods and Properties of High-Melting Metals and their Compounds


The authors investigated the application of lanthanum boride coating on refractory metals by means of a plasma jet.

It is shown that on melting lanthanum boride in the jet, it is possible to obtain practically poreless samples of a stoichlometric composition readily undergoing electropolishing.

The use of a plasma jet makes it possible to obtain cathodes of complex form from lanthanum boride.
