Conclusions
-
1.
A study was made, using Knudsen's effusion method, of the evaporation of germanium nitride over the temperature range 923–963°K. It is shown that, on evaporation, this compound dissociates into solid germanium and nitrogen.
-
2.
The vapor pressure above germanium nitride depends on test duration and on the surface area of the effusion orifice.
-
3.
The equilibrium values of vapor pressure above Ge3N4 and the standard heat of formation of this compound from the elements have been determined.
