Summary
-
1.
20Cr-80Ni Nichrome powder obtained by the method of simultaneous reduction of oxides has excellent technological characteristics, and specimens compacted from this powder can easily be sintered in a hydrogen atmosphere. The optimum sintering parameters are a temperature of 1250°C and a holding period of 1–3 h.
-
2.
At a porosity not exceeding 15–20%, sintered 20Cr-80Ni Nichrome specimens have relatively high mechanical properties and excellent oxidation resistance at up to 1100°C.
-
3.
The Nichrome powder investigated may be recommended for use as a metal base of some sintered materials, including sealing materials intended for service in high-temperature gas turbine units.
