Conclusions

The sizes of open pores in a cermet filter manufactured from a given powder fraction with spherical particles may vary over a wide range if the pores are formed in powders differing in size and degree of packing.

The finer the powder fraction used in the manufacture of a cermet filter (or the thicker the filter), the better relationship (1) will hold:d=0,155a min (valid at δ ≥3 mm in filters made from powders not exceeding 0.3–0.4 mm in particle size).

The filtration sharpness of thin-walled cermet filters manufactured from coarse powders (fraction of 0.4mm or larger sizes. δ ≤ 3 mm) should be determined by measuring the maximum size of particles passed through the filter, or be calculated from the relationshipd=0,4=a max.
