Use of piperazin-2-one for the synthesis of some condensed heterocyclic compounds

On the basis of the condensation of a lactim ether of 4-acetylpiperazinone withα-amino-α-cyanoacetamide and hydrazine hydrate it has been shown that the replacement of the methylene link in theλ-position in valerolactam by an acetamide group leads to a reduction in the yield of the desired products in nucleophilic substitution reactions. 4-Hydroxypiperazino-[1,2-e]purine which is a key compound for the synthesis of the new class of heterocyclic compounds, the piperazino [1, 2-e]purines, has been synthesized.
