Colorimetric determination ofα-hydroxy-β-β-dimethyl-γ-butyrolactone

A colorimetric method, based on the formation of the colored complex of trivalent iron with the hydroxamic acid formed during the reaction of the lactone with hydroxylamine, is suggested for the determination ofα-hydroxy-β,β-dimethyl-γ-butyrolactone.
