Abstract
Results are presented for an experimental study of the effect of cooling to 77 K on the dynamic crack resistance and impact strength of steels ON9 and 07Kh13N4AG20. Features are noted for the change in failure resistance of these metals in the temperature range 293-77 K with an increase in loading rate to 1.5 m/sec. It is established that crack resistance characteristics of the test steels are somewhat higher in the case of dynamic loading than with static loading, but impact strength of the materials decreases with cooling.
