Abstract

LEED, CO chemisorption, Auger and XP spectroscopy have been used to investigate the growth morphology, structure, kinetic behaviour and chemical properties of TiO x films on Ru(0001) as a function of oxide loading and temperature. The system exhibits a number of interesting properties which are of direct relevance to the SMSI phenomenon; these properties are critically dependent on the method of preparation.
