Formation of Chini type Pt-Co complexes in basic zeolites

Abstract

Colored samples are obtained upon CO reaction at room temperature with Pt2+ ions incorporated in basic zeolites such as PtNaY and PtCsNaX. Their characterization, carried out by UV-visible and infrared spectroscopy, show strong analogies with Chini complexes. This suggests that complexes [Pt3(CO32CO)3]2− n of the Chini type may be formed and stabilized in the supercages of basic zeolites.
