Conclusions

  1. 1.

The action of ultrasonics on the extraction of the alkaloids from Rauwolfia root has been studied. In the initial stage of the process there is a considerable increase in the rate of extraction as compared with the usual method of extraction by steeping.

  2. 2.

The raunatin obtained by extraction using ultrasonics has been shown by chromatography to be identical with the raunatin obtained by the steeping method of extraction.
