1.
Similarity in the nature of the formation of antibiotic in fermenters of vol. 3000, 20,000, and 50,000 liters and a marked difference in the course of biosynthesis in apparatuses of vol. 100 liters were established by comparison of the indexes of biosynthesis of penicillin in apparatuses of different capacities. The experimental data obtained in apparatuses of vol. 3000 liters are considerably better reproduced on industrial scales than results obtained in 100-liter fermenters.

2.
The differences in the course of the biosynthesis of penicillin in apparatuses of large and small capacity are related to the different conditions of mixing and aeration of the culture liquid in them.
