Polarographic determination of vitamin A acetate in the presence of anhydrovitamin A

  • Published:
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The polarographic behavior of anhydrovitamin A has been studied. In agreement with the result of a calculation of charge distribution by the LCAOMO method in Huckel's approximation it has been found that the kinetic basicity of the anion radical of anhydrovitamin A is lower than that of shorter conjugated sysems.

  2. 2.

A procedure for determining anhydrovitamin A in the presence of vitamin A acetate using derivative oscillographic voltammetry has been proposed, and the possibility of using this method for the direct analysis of a mixture of esters of vitamin A with anhydrovitamin A and esters of retrovitamin A has been shown.
