Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The start of the formation of alkaloids is observed, depending on the year's weather conditions, on the 12th or 27th day after infection of the rye with ergot,in the period of emergence of sclerotia from the spike-shaped husks and their acquirement of the first signs of pigmentation.

  2. 2.

The absolute alkaloid content and dry mass of sclerotia are increased according to the degree of ripeness of the latter; consequently the best date for harvesting the ergot crop of the ergometrine strain is the time of complete maturity of the horns.

  3. 3.

The alkaloid composition of the ergot horns was constant at all times of harvesting the comprised ergometrine (up to 65%) and ergometrinine (15–20%).
