Conclusions

  1. 1.

A one-step method is proposed for the preparation of acetylated 2-(indolyl-3′-)-4-R-imidazolones and unacetylated 2-(indolyl-3′-)-6-keto, 3,4-dihydropyrimidines by treating the corresponding amidino-acids with acetic anhydride. The structure of these compounds was proved by an independent synthesis.

  2. 2.

Because of their ability to form salts and in accordance with their IR spectra the acetylated imidazolones were considered to be O-acetylated derivatives.
