Synthesis of silacyclobutanes from haloalkylmethoxysilanes

Abstract

The possibility of synthesizing silacyclobutane derivatives from haloalkylalkoxysilanes has been studied (withγ-chloropropylmethyldimethoxysilane andγ-chloropropyidimethylmethoxysilane as examples). The intramolecular cyclization of these compounds takes place only when polar solvents are used.
