Synthesis of benzoxazole sulfanilamide derivatives

Abstract

A number of hitherto undescribed 2-(p-aminobenzenesulfamide) benzoxazoles are prepared by treating 2-aminobenzoxazole or its 6-substituted compounds with p-carbomethoxyaminobenzenesulfochloride or p-acetylaminobenzenesulfochloride, followed by alkaline hydrolysis. A similar reaction with 6-amino-2-hydroxy- and 2-mercaptobenzoxazoles gives 6-(p-aminobenzenesulfamido)-2-hydroxy- and 2-mercaptobenzoxazoles.
