Colloidal-chemical properties of individual sodium alkylbenzosulfonates

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

A method is developed for synthesizing individual sodium alkylbenzosulfonates with a straight alkyl chain.

  2. 2.

Two values of CCM were observed in aqueous solutions of the sodium alkylbenzosulfonates that were studied and it was shown that as the length of the alkyl chain increases in the ABS = Na molecule, the region of micelle formation gradually narrows, particularly so beginning with the R10, homolog, but further it remains constant.

  3. 3.

Measurement of the CCM by the conductometric method showed that for temperatures of 40–75°C, the CCM for solutions of the samples that were studied remains almost unchanged.
