Study of the composition of catalyzates and of phase equilibria with diethylene glycol

Conclusions

  1. 1)

    The composition was studied of the catalyzates from the reforming of the 105–140‡ C fraction of Tuimazin petroleum and of the Karadag condensate which were then used to develop a process for the extraction of xylenes with DEG. It was shown that both types of raw material have a similar composition. The concentration of the xylene fraction is 40–50% per catalyzate.

  2. 2)

    The phase equilibria (liquid-liquid) were studied in the systems DEG-catalyzate and the following optimum conditions were established for the extraction: temperature-150‡ C, concentration of water in the DEG as it enters the extractor-7.0% by weight, weight ratio DEG∶raw material-9-10∶1 (when working without a recycle).

  3. 3)

    An empirical equation was derived relating Ka to temperature, concentration of water in the DEG, and the DEG∶raw material ratio.
