Summary
-
1.
A mass spectrometric study was made of the group composition of petroleum sulfides, separated by selective extraction from the 170–310° distillate of Arlansk petroleum using aqueous sulfuric acid solutions.
-
2.
The thiophene content of the separated sulfides did not exceed 3.8 mole %.
-
3.
Petroleum sulfide fractions consist mainly of alkyl thiocyclanes, with smaller amounts of alkyl thiobi- and thiotricyclanes (15–30 and 4–14 mole%, respectively).
-
4.
The thioalkane and alkyl cycloalkyl sulfide contents are low (0–13 and 0–20 mole %. respectively).
