Identification and quantitative determination of normal structure aliphatic acids in diesel fuel of Romashkinsk and Mukhanovsk petroleums

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

By forming urea adducts from the mixture of petroleum acids from diesel fuel from Romashkinsk and Mukhanovsk petroleums, we have isolated normal fatty acids in an amount of up to 20%, which exceeds the data up till now on content of normal fatty acids in other petroleums, and is analogous to the content of normal paraffins in diesel oil from Romashkinsk petroleum.

  2. 2.

By gas chromatography using several immobile liquid phases, we have shown that acids from enanthic to pentacosanoic inclusive enter into the composition of the mixture studied, whereupon about 50% of the total amount of them fits into the C12–C16 portion, and the palmitic acid content is 20% of the total amount.

  3. 3.

It has been found that the total content of normal fatty acids with an even number of carbon atoms exceeds the total content of such acids with an odd number of carbon atoms.
