Degree of extraction of various hydrocarbon groups with furfural from gas oil produced by coking

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Furfural extracts preferentially heavy aromatic hydrocarbons from gas oil produced by coking when the temperatures near the top and the bottom of the extractor differ by 20° C. When the amount of furfural employed is increased from 100 to 300 weight %, the degree of extraction of aromatic hydrocarbons changes only slightly and amounts to 80% of the content in the gas oil produced by coking.

  2. 2.

When the extraction temperature is increased, but the amount of solvent and the temperature gradient in the extractor are kept unaltered, the yield of extract rises noticeably, but the degree of extraction of aromatic hydrocarbons increases only slightly.
