Carbonylation of the C5-C6 olefins in the gas phase

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

Under the conditions used for the oxo-synthesis process in the gas phase, a marked carbonylation of the C5-C7 olefins takes place.

The rate constant for the carbonylation reaction of the C5-C6 olefins in the gas phase is greater than in the liquid phase and the absolute reaction rate is somewhat lower becuase of the lower concentration of the olefins and cobalt carbonyls which catalyze the process.
