Summary
-
1.
It has been shown that, in air at room temperature or high temperatures, the solid-film lubricants giving the longest life are VNII NP-212 and -230, which contain organic film-formers.
-
2.
The operating temperature limit for the solid-film lubricants VNII NP-209, -213, and-229 increases to 500–600° C when used under vacuum (10−5 torr) or argon.
-
3.
It has been shown that exposure to low temperatures (−254° C) or irradiation with a total dose of 108-109 rad gives hardly any reduction in life of solid-film lubricants.
