Summary
-
1.
The effect of the overflow level on the operation of a rectification tray in the separation of a “methanol-water” mixture has been studied.
-
2.
It has been shown that, with variation of the velocity of the vapors within the limits of 0.25–0.60 m/sec, the density of the bubbling layer is approximately 2.5 times less than the density of the clear liquid.
-
3.
It has been shown that the value of the mass-transfer coefficient, related to the volume of liquid on the tray, does not depend on the depth of the bubbling layer. This makes it possible to use a value of Kyv, found for one value of the height of the overflow dam, for calculation of the efficiency of this tray at another height of the overflow dam.
