Effect of additives on thermal-oxidative stability of dibutyl phenyl phosphate

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Summary

A study has been made of the effect of various additives on the thermal-oxidative stability and corrosivity of dibutyl phenyl phosphate. It has been shown that aromatic amines, alkylphenols, and certain xanthates are effective oxidation inhibitors for dibutyl phenyl phosphate. In the presence of copper, the alkylphenols and aromatic amines promote oxidation and increase the corrosivity of the dibutyl phenyl phosphate. Xanthates that do not contain the disulfide group give a sharp reduction in corrosivity of DBPP, which can be explained by the formation of a protective sulfide film on the copper surface.
