Acceleration of production process for petroleum pitch

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    An accelerated method has been developed for producing petroleum pitch. It has been shown that the thermocondensation of the raw material at temperatures of 460–500°C, with subsequent distillation of the volatile fractions, will reduce the required time for pitch production by a factor ranging from 5 to 20, in comparison with the time required under conventional conditions (400–420°C).

    The introduction of the proposed method for pitch production is feasible in existing thermal-cracking units after appropriate reconstruction.
