Identification of isomeric paraffinic hydrocarbons by calculations from chromatographic data

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

The calculation of retention indices by means of additive schemes gives results that are insufficiently accurate for reliable identification of isomers.

  2. 2.

Relationships have been proposed that will provide data on the retention of C8–C9 isoparaffins with an accuracy on the order of 1–2 index units, and that of C10 hydrocarbons with an accuracy on the order of 5 index units.
