Study on the resistance and the separation capacity of a regular “helical zigzag” packing

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A novel packing type consisting of regularly arranged Raschig rings: the “helical zigzag” packing suited for use both in laboratory columns and in industrial columns has been studied.

  2. 2.

    It has been established that this packing combines a low resistance with a sufficiently high separation efficiency.

  3. 3.

    The resistance coefficients and the limiting loads for the packing studied have been determined, and equations suitable for calculations are recommended.
