Conclusions
A method was developed for the industrial preparation of powdered type X zeolites which allows a zeolite, which has high adsorption properties, to be crystallized in large volumes.
The special feature of the described method of preparation are the conditions for preparing the reaction mixture. To avoid the formation of the side product phillipsite instead of the desired product, phogasite, the reaction mixture which contains an elevated alkali concentration is heated with stirring, and after reaching the crystallization temperature, this mixture is diluted with hot water to decrease the alkali content to 100–110 g/liter, at which the amorphous mass crystallizes completely as phogasite.
