Mass transfer during drying of oils by synthetic NaA zeolites

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

During adsorption of moisture from the synthetic oil KhF22S-16 by the NaA zeolite without a binder, the local mass transfer coefficients calculated for the whole mass transfer zone depend on the relative breakthrough concentration of the sorptive, i.e., on the degree of depletion of the adsorbent. The value of the mass transfer coefficient is determined by both extra- and intradiffision resistances.

  2. 2.

A criterial equation has been obtained for calculating the mass-transfer coefficient for ylim = 0.05. The values ofβ calculated by this equation can be used, with sufficient accuracy for practical purposes, to determine the time of operation of the bed from the well-known solutions of the sorption dynamics equations obtained on the assumption that the mass transfer coefficient is constant along the length of charge.
