Investigation of the inhibiting effect of oils on the electrochemical behavior of a metal

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The studies made have shown that additive KP has preferentially an anode action.

  2. 2.

The protective effect of oil containing a KP additive is connected with the slowing down of diffusion of the corrosive medium to the surface of the metal; this results from the formation of an oriented adsorbed layer.

  3. 3.

SaSZhK additive is a mixed-type inhibitor.

  4. 4.

The results of the electrochemical investigation of inhibiting oils agree well with the results of an evaluation of their protective properties, using the cycle method, and are confirmed by the results of tests made under natural conditions.
