Conclusions

To improve the service life of boring bars it is necessary to use a combined treatment consisting of hardening of the outer surface and the inner cavity. Bars of steel 55S2 can be induction hardened and the inner channels can be protected with enamels. Bars of steels 30KhGSFA and 28KhGN3M should be carbonitrided, which makes it possible to obtain a hardened layer on the outer surface and in the inner cavity.
