Abstract
Use of the diagnosis ‘borderline’ by child and adolescent psychiatrists was explored through a questionnaire survey. A large number of respondents indicated agreement regarding transferability of three of the Gunderson and Singer criteria, defined for adults, to a child and adolescent population. The author provides descriptive criteria for ‘borderline’ children and adolescents based on the Gunderson and Singer criteria.
