Abstract
This prospective study of 510 emotionally disturbed children, placed in three different psychoeducational settings, by discriminant function analysis and multiple regression revealed very significant differences among the three groups (special class in public schools, private day schools, and private residential schools). The large overlaps in these populations demonstrated that they did not represent distinct populations on a continuum of psychopathology or special educational needs.
