Effect of heat treatment on the ductile properties of heat-resistant alloy ÉI698-VD in cold deformation

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The optimum combination of hardness and ductile characteristics for ÉI698-VD is achieved with a recrystallization structure with a grain size ≤100 μm, and γ'-phase particles 0.35–0.45 μm in size and 7–10% in quantity are formed.

     
  2. 2.

    Formation of coarse (0.35–0.45 μm) and very fine (10 mm) γ'-phase particles explains the low deformation resistance and high ductility of that alloy at ambient temperatures, because low energy is required for dislocations to cut through or to move along both the fine and the coarse grains.
