Conclusions

  1. 1.

Vanadium and binary alloys of vanadium with titanium (<50% Ti) have high corrosion resistance in 18% HCl at room temperature; titanium lowers the corrosion rate of vanadium in this case.

Alloys containing 50% Ti undergo intensive corrosion in this solution.

  2. 2.

The corrosion resistance of ternary V-Ti-Sn alloys depends on the ratio of tin and titanium

  3. 3.

Alloys containing up to 5% Sn and up to 50% Ti can be forged, have high corrosion resistance in 18% HCl at room temperature, have high strength, and low density (5.3–6.2 g/cm3), i.e., are workable, light, and strong structural materials.
