Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Diffusion chromium-titanium coating is an effective method of increasing the wear and corrosion resistance of nitrided parts.

     
  2. 2.

    The increase in the wear and corrosion resistance as the result of chromium-titanium coating may be explained by the formation on the working surfaces of a complex diffusion coating, the outer zone of which consists primarily of Cr2N chromium nitride with a hardness of 1650 H.

     
  3. 3.

    The diffusion chromium-titanium coating process may be used successfully not only for hardening but also for repairing a number of machine parts.

     
  4. 4.

    Plunger pairs repaired by diffusion chromium-titanium coating have a longer life and higher reliability than standard ones.
