Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

According to metallographic, microprobe, and x-ray analyses and microhardness measurements, steel 11Kh18M contains two types of carbides: (Fe, Cr)7C3 and Cr3C2.

  2. 2.

Changes in the composition and shape of eutectic carbides occur in the temperature range of 1180–1220°.

  3. 3.

Stepped homogenization of ingots ensures spheroidization of eutectic carbides and promotes even distribution of carbides in the deformed steel.
