Summary
Lambda-transducing phages carrying segments of theEscherichia coli chromosome in thearoE-trkA region have been isolated and shown by hybridization to carry an rRNA gene (rrnD). The most likely gene order istrkA aroE rrnD. TheEcoRI andSmaI endonuclease cutting pattern of therrnD gene is identical with the one ofrrnB, but differented fromrrnC.
