Conclusions
-
1.
Steel 65Kh6M3F3BS exhibits high ductility in the hot condition and satisfactory weldability.
-
2.
In order to achieve the best combination of service properties for cutting tools made of steel 65Kh6M3F3BS (Kr 6204 =HRCe 53–54,* HRCe 63–63.5, σb=3500-3800 N/mm2) it is desirable to quench it from 1230–1250°C with isothermal soaking at 550°C followed by cooling in air (in oil) and two-stage tempering at 530–540°C for 1 h.
-
3.
An increase in bending resistance to σb=4000-4200 N/mm2 is possible with a reduction in heating temperature for hardening to 1200–1190°C, although with this the red hardness decreases to HRCe 52, and hardness to HRCe 61.5. An additional increase in hardness and red hardness of the cutting tool surface is possible as a result of cyaniding.
