Conclusions

1.
To increase the resistance of radiant tubes it is necessary to exclude the formation of soot inside the tube during combustion of city gas and also precipitation of soot in the furnace atmosphere. This can be ensured only by automatic control of the carbon potential in the process of chemicothermal treatment and careful regulation of combustion conditions.

2.
Burning of soot shortens the service life of radiant tubes and thus should be reconsidered.
