Conclusions
-
1.
We investigated the effect of gaseous atmospheres based on nitrogen with additions of CH4 and CO2 on the saturation of steels with different amounts of carbon at 900 and 950°.
-
2.
To ensure a stable saturation process it is necessary to have a catalyst and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
-
3.
Raising the temperature to 950° and increasing the saturation time to 6 h do not improve the efficiency of the process.
