Effect of the dimensions of the alpha- and beta-phases on the fatigue life of titanium alloys

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The cyclic life of (α+β)-titanium alloys depends on the size of the β-transformed phase. The maximum fatigue life has the VT6 alloy whose structure contains the smallest β-transformed phase.

  2. 2.

    The volume percentage of the initial α-phase and β-transformed phase as well as the dimensions of the α-phase have no effect on the cyclic life of (α+β)-titanium alloys.
