Zusammenfassung
Es wurde ein Querschnitt durch die Literatur über Galaktosekatarakt und Milchzuckerstoffwechsel gegeben. Die einzelnen Hypothesen wurden zusammengestellt und kritisch miteinander verglichen. Auf Grund der Literaturangaben und an Hand der eigenen Versuche wurde eine Hypothese über die Entstehung der Galaktosekatarakt aufgestellt. Danach erscheint es wahrscheinlich, daß Milchzucker und Galaktose den fermentativen Kohlenhydratabbau hemmen. Durch Injektionen von Co-Carboxylase konnten wir die toxische Wirkung dieser beiden Zucker auf die weiße Ratte weitgehend aufheben und die Entstehung einer Galaktosekatarakt verhüten. Als Ursache der Galaktosekatarakt wird eine Störung der Umwandlung der Brenztraubensäure in Milchsäure in der Linse angenommen.
