Abstract
The feasibility of obtaining anisotropic Doppler-free gain and unidirectional generation in optically pumped lasers is studied. The Doppler broadening is compensated due to a pump-induced velocity-dependent light shift of an atomic transition. The gain and spectral characteristics are investigated.
