Design of an optoacoustic cell for laser-Stark spectroscopy

Abstract

We report on the development of an optoacoustic cell that is suitable for high-resolution laser-Stark spectroscopy. It is a small volume non-resonant device that has been operated with strong electric fields, up to 36 kV/cm. A Doppler-free Stark spectrum of NH3, obtained with a CO2 laser, is given as an example of its performances.
