Abstract

Spectroscopic absorption measurements were used to study the non-linear optical thin-film properties of an azo dye-attached polymer in which the dye chromophores were oriented by corona poling. Details of the polymer synthesis, poling configuration and poling procedure are presented. A rigid oriented gas model was used to describe the poled polymer. The stabilized order parameter of 0.51 found is, to the authors' knowledge, larger than any reported for guest-host or chromophore-attached polymeric systems.
