Abstract

People Sharing Information Network (PSInet) is a computer conferencing system that has supported the wide-area computer communications needs of science and mathematics educators, students, and administrators throughout the nation since 1985. This article contains several examples of actual PSInet use, as well as a description of how the system works, how users interact with it, and its advantages. The paper ends with a brief vision of how PSInet may be used with international data highways such as NSFnet.
