Abstract

Second harmonic nonlinear crystals can be successfully used as light polarizers and analyzers. An extinction ratio (ER) of 6×10−9 for a system consisting of a Glan prism and KDP doubler is demonstrated. This nonlinear optical analyzer was used to test ER of calcite Glan air spaced prisms.
